I forgot about all the other running shoes in my closet.

I’ve been wearing the Mach 7 for nearly two months during every run. Whether I’m running a speedy three miles or a relaxed 10K, you’ll catch me with these on my feet. I’ve happily forgotten about my other running shoes. What’s even more impressive is that the standard width is spacious enough for my stubborn bunions, which is a challenge for me when shopping for running shoes.

Some running shoes should be specifically reserved for either training or racing, but I deem the Mach 7 a reliable option for both. I feel like I’m flying during every stride I take, no matter my speed. Each step feels explosive and offers a nice springy sensation, making me nimble on my feet. The shoes weigh a mere 7.15 ounces, so they feel as light as they actually are. They’re also slimly designed with no bulk, unlike other popular Hoka styles, such as the Bondi 9 and Clifton 10.

Although these have a much thinner EVA foam construction compared to other Hoka models, they don’t skimp on comfort. The semi-firm footbed is plush when pounding the pavement without being over the top. Given the cushioning is lower-profile, my feet feel more connected to the ground for stability — a must when logging speedy miles. My arches also feel cradled in all the right places, while the sock-like jacquard upper wraps around my feet like a glove. Keep in mind that I have high arches, so these most likely don’t offer enough stability and support if you have flat feet. If stability is your top priority, I recommend the Arahi 8, which helps prevent collapsing arches.

“Really loved my first run in the Mach 7. They felt light while still having good padding. Definitely best for road running, but I ventured onto gravel, grass, and a few dirt patches with no issue. Fits true to size, and the color looked exactly as pictured.” —Alys

“I like the new update, breathable upper, and good support. Can pick up the tempo or slow the pace down. Nice toe box and ample volume in the upper. Just the right amount of cushion without feeling like you have to dig out of sand. Also, will wear casually.” —Run60

“Easily the best Mach yet. Soooo lightweight, fast, and smooth with just the right amount of cushion. Protective without killing the pop, and the ride feels effortless. The toe box has plenty of room, which is a huge win, and the colorways are fire. I have already logged two runs and feel amazing. Fresh legs, confident turnover, zero distractions. Pro tip: I recommend sizing up a half size for the best fit.” —CO Mama

I love all of my Hokas, but this pair is a surprise! It is nice and lightweight while still feeling very supportive and cushioned. I have neuromas, so support is mandatory, and sometimes it means added weight and bulk to a shoe. The new Mach 7 is the perfect balance.” —Heather
