JD Vance Goes Blank In Attack On Democrat During Iowa Speech

Vice President JD Vance went blank during a speech in Iowa on Tuesday, prompting at least one outlet to compare him to his White House superior. Vance was in Des Moines to tub-thump for GOP Rep. Zach Nunn. But when he attempted an attack on Nunn’s probable Democratic opponent, state Sen. Sarah Trone Garriott, he got lost in his notes and couldn’t come up with her name. It got so bad, he needed Nunn to help him finish the thought. “When I see Iowa farmers who need to get that [gasoline-ethanol mix] E15 to market, what is, uh, this, what is, uh,” Vance blabbered. “... Zach you’re gonna have to help me out with her name here. I lost my page here.” Nunn can be heard answering the veep as he turned pages. “OK, all right, there we go,” Vance continued. “Sarah Trone Garriott. ... I’m on the wrong page here.” The crowd erupts in boos but it’s unclear if they were aimed at Vance’s blunder or Garriott. “Like president, like vice president,” The Daily Beast cracked about Vance’s gaffe, adding that the veep “is starting to take after his geriatric boss.” The outlet compared Vance’s struggles to Trump’s stumbling over large, handwritten notes about the controversial White House ballroom recently.
