House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) raised eyebrows on Monday after describing Republicans as “the grown-ups,” while attacking Democrats.

Johnson, appearing on Newsmax, accused Democrats of suffering from “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” which is not a medical diagnosis but an insult frequently hurled by Republicans to dismiss criticism of Donald Trump.

“They have full-on Trump Derangement Syndrome, OK? And it informs how they see the world and how they react. And how irresponsible they are now is on full display for the whole country,” Johnson claimed.

“I hope voters remember this in the fall. You’ve got to keep the grown-ups in charge — and that’s the Republicans,” he added.
