(NewsNation) — The Social Security Administration announced it is temporarily closing several offices across the country, impacting in-person services.

The agency notes the closures or appointment-only availabilities at certain offices are due to construction and crowd-control restrictions to keep people from waiting outside offices.

The Social Security Administration has stressed the “small number of offices” experiencing closures is temporary.

Affected locations include certain offices in the following states and regions:

Arizona

California

Florida

Hawaii

Iowa

Kentucky

Maryland

Michigan

Montana

Northern Mariana Islands

Pennsylvania

Texas

West Virginia

The SSA recommends recipients first try using its website for assistance.

“If you cannot use our website, please call our National 800 Number or your local Social Security office,” the agency’s website reads. “We can often help by phone and save you a trip to an office.”

The agency also advises recipients who need in-person help to make an appointment to visit a local office.
